Google Tuesday finalized its $12.5 billion deal for Motorola Mobility, a key manufacturer of smart-phones and other devices which puts the Internet giant in head-to-head competition with Apple. "The acquisition will enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and will enhance competition in mobile computing," the California-based Internet giant said in a statement. "I m happy to announce the deal has closed.

倫敦: Cellphone maker Nokia is in talks to sell its UK luxury subsidiary Vertu, which hand makes some of the world’s most expensive mobile phones, a source familiar with the company’s strategy said on Monday. Earlier the Financial Times reported that talks with private equity group Permira were at an advanced stage on a possible sale which would raise about 200 million euros ($265 萬美元). Vertu’s cellphones can feature crystal displays and sapphire keys, costing more than 200,000 pounds ($320,000) due to the precious metal components.

NEW DEHLI: Top mobile phone carrier Bharti Airtel (BRTI.NS) signed up 2.5 million subscribers in March, its highest monthly addition in a year, partly helped by the Supreme Court’s order revoking the licenses of its smaller rivals. Carriers including Telenor (TEL.OL) and Sistema’s (SSAq.L) India units, Idea Cellular (IDEA.NS) and Tata Teleservices are set to lose some or all of their zonal telecom permits after the Supreme Court in February ordered cancellation of all licences awarded in a scandal-tainted 2008 sale.
