Overall 68 percent of Spaniards said they had sympathy for the movement, compared to 66 percent who expressed that opinion in June 2011 just after it was born with the establishment of a sprawling encampment at Madrid s central Puerta del Sol square, according to the survey published in El Pais. The US commander in Afghanistan said he would not be disappointed if a long-sought agreement with Pakistan on supply routes failed to materialise by the end of the NATO summit in Chicago on Monday. General John Allen, who is also the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) commander, said in an interview he was confident a deal would eventually be struck but "whether it s in days or weeks, I don t know." Many Obama administration officials had hoped for an agreement with Islamabad in time for the Sunday-Monday summit that would end a nearly six-month ban prohibiting trucks in Pakistan from carrying supplies to NATO forces in neighboring Afghanistan.

Chelsea to hold contract talks with Drogba

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck says the club will hold talks with forward Didier Drogba about a new contract next week and hopes to appoint a permanent manager "sooner rather than later." Drogba, who scored the decisive penalty to defeat Bayern Munich in the shootout of the Champions League final on Saturday, is out of contract next month. The 34-year-old Ivory Coast international joined the west London club from Marseille in 2004. Buck says Sunday that Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay is likely "to sit down with his (Drogba s) agent this week and we ll see where it goes." Buck added that the club intends to appoint a permanent manager prior to the pre-season tour of the United States that starts with a match against Seattle Sounders on July 18

SpaceX readies for ambitious ISS launch

California-based company SpaceX was poised to launch its Dragon capsule to the International Space Station Saturday in what may be a historic mission for private spaceflight. The blastoff of SpaceX s Falcon 9 rocket, carrying the unmanned Dragon and over half a ton of cargo toward the orbiting lab, was scheduled for 4:55 am (0855 GMT) Saturday from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in south Florida. The forecast was 70 percent favorable for the first-of-its kind attempt to send a privately built spacecraft to the research outpost, where it plans to do a fly-under followed by a berthing in the coming days.

DAMASCUS: Anti-regime activists have called for Syria-wide protests on Friday in support of students in Aleppo, a day after thousands of them rallied, emboldened by the presence of UN truce observers. Growing suspicions of an Al-Qaeda presence in Syria, meanwhile, further complicated matters for the fragmented opposition, which has repeatedly refuted any links to the Islamist organisation. UN chief Ban Ki-moon said on Thursday that he believes Al-Qaeda committed a major bomb attack in Damascus that left dozens dead, and that up to 10,000 people may have been killed in 15 months of violence in Syria.
