US military cuts presence in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The United States has reduced the number of military personnel in Pakistan, stated press release issued from US Embassy on Friday. According to the press release, US Embassy in Islamabad said that the reduction had been made at the request of the Pakistani government. “We recently received a written request from the Government of Pakistan to reduce the number of US military personnel here, and we have nearly completed the reduction,” said Vice Adm.

WASHINGTON: A secret cable of 2009 has revealed that the present government requested to open an account in the name of prime minister (PM) for submitting donations for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Kuwait, WikiLeaks revealed. According to a cable sent in June 2009, the Counselor of International Affairs, Rashid Al-Hajri, deployed in Kuwait’s foreign ministry told a US official that the Pakistan Embassy has requested a bank account in the name of PM to be opened in Kuwait to pool donations for IDPs. Rashid Al-Hijri expressed his concerns over the possible corruption and said that why an account has to be opened for IDPs in the name of Prime Minister and not in the name of the Government of Pakistan or Pakistan Embassy in Kuwait
