US plane diverts after woman claims implanted device

A French woman forced a transatlantic flight from Paris to North Carolina to be diverted to Maine on Tuesday after claiming she had a "surgically implanted device." The US Airways jet with 179 passengers and crew on board landed safely in Bangor, Maine, where the woman was taken into custody by the FBI before the Boeing 767 continued its journey to Charlotte, North Carolina. Coming on the heels of a thwarted airline bomb plot by Al-Qaeda s Yemen branch, the incident has laid bare US worry over shifting tactics of extremists as they seek new ways — and new technologies, including non-metallic bombs — for landing a deadly blow against an American target. US lawmakers approve tying Pakistan aid to NATO supply

Staff Report WASHINGTON: The US House of Representatives approved a bill comprising a proposal to make the payment of Coalition Support Fund to Pakistan hinged upon the restoration of NATO supply, SAMAA reports Friday. The lower legislative house of the US adopted the amendment in the defence bill with 412 votes in favor and only one in opposition. Under the amendment, the payment of aid worth 650 million dollars to Pakistan has been made contingent upon the country’s decision to re-open supply routes to NATO forces stationed in Afghanistan.
Student self-immolates in Faisalabad

Teacher of a government school in Warispura expelled an 11-year-old student Umar from class rooms on remaining absent and asked him to send his parents for further discussion. According to some family members, father of the child also got angry and refused to go to meet the teacher. The broken hearted child bought petrol from a nearby shop and set himself on fire in front of his house. The residents of the area shifted the child to Allied Hospital in critical condition. According to doctors, the child was still in critical condition.

DG Khan: Gang leader among four criminals arrested

According to details, Dera ghazi Khan police have arrested four members of a criminal gang, including gang leader, from Vehari and recoverd an abducted woman who was kidnapped some nine days ago from DG Khan. DPO Dera Ghazi Khan informed the media that proclaimed offender Razzaq was wanted in more than 40 cases of murder, robbery and other heinous crimes. He said that Razzaq along with his accomplices kidnapped Safia Bibi from her house on May 5 and injured two of her brothers-in-law on offering resistance.
