Gravity Rush release date, DLC strategy on Vita

Gravity Rush remains one of the most anticipated titles on the PS Vita and it’s a game that a lot of you are looking to pick up as soon as it’s released. We finally have a release date for you to jot down now, as well as some important details regarding DLC after release. We’re pleased to say that finally, Gravity Rush will be available to download and buy at retail on June 12 in the US and June 13 in Europe.
PES 2012 adds January transfer update, bonus free DLC

FIFA 12 players are now getting tucked into the game with the fresh January Transfer updates that have now been put in place, and we’re pleased to say that the ‘other’ game, PES 2012 is also getting a dose of the same treatment next week. Konami has just announced that the January transfer updates will be implemented into the game on March 6 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game. As we told you when we were speaking about the update for FIFA, it will now mean that PES players will be able to call on the likes of Paul Scholes for Manchester United, and Papiss Demba Cisse for Newcastle.

DOOM 4 background screenshots emerge, game not cancelled

If you are a fan of legendary FPS series DOOM and have been keeping an eye on all the latest developments regarding the game, you’ll probably be as surprised as we are after hearing reports this week that the game has been cancelled. The good news, is that it looks like the game hasn’t been cancelled and it was just a hoax. AllGamesBeta picked up on some alleged leaked images from 4Chan along with the rumors of the game’s cancellation, but Bethesda has been quick to respond by saying that this information is not true
Jet Set Radio: Grind out a Vita version Sega

We love it when we hear about retro games being re-released on today’s home consoles and this latest confirmation of Jet Set Radio HD definitely fits the retro category. Sega is bringing the Dreamcast classic to the PS3 and Xbox 360, but we hope that a similar version also finds its way on to Sony’s new PS Vita handheld as well. If you are already in possession of a Sony PS Vita and are looking forward to this week’s PlayStation Store update, we’re pleased to say that there will be a fresh batch of demos for you to enjoy, or ‘missing’ demos depending on which store your Vita is currently assigned to. Last week we shared our thoughts on Sony’s somewhat frustrating strategy to release different Vita content across all three main stores, if you count the Asia store as well as the EU and US stores. This week, we can confirm that the US stores will be playing catch up in a way, by providing four ‘new’ demos that the EU store already had last week.
Bethesda hiring for next-gen game, Fallout 4 assumed

What’s particularly interesting is that this job listing is clearly asking for Future Generation Console Programmer who will slot into Bethesda Game Studios’ programming department. Medal of Honor Warfighter: Contemplating multiplayer without DICE

We recently asked you for some of your ideas regarding the next Medal of Honor game, which has already been confirmed to be called Warfighter and will be coming in 2012. The game has now been given a semi-official reveal on the cover of OXM and more details, some surprising, have been revealed in the process. If you picked up the first game in the reboot, you’ll know that the impressive single-player was handled by Danger Close, while multiplayer was overseen by DICE who are obviously well known for the Battlefield series.

Credit crunch hitting the games industry hard

Gamers were treated to a number of big game releases last year with a variety of highly anticipated launches to tempt us to part with our cash. But it seems the ongoing credit crunch is hitting the games industry hard if recent sales figures and store closures are anything to go by. According to a report on MCV sales of the big titles have hit an all time low, with the UK games market down 25% compared with last year.
