Workers in the country formerly known as Burma are already testing their new-found power with a string of walkouts, emboldened by legislation that is considered among the most progressive in the region. Hundreds of employees from three garment factories at Yangon s Hlaing Thar Yar Industrial Zone went on strike last week demanding improved working conditions, picketing outside the plants.
