Mubeen, a student of Grade VII, returned home on weekend from hostel of International Public School and committed suicide later in the night by hanging himself with rope tied around his neck.

Before taking his life, Mubeen wrote a letter to his parents, expressing his frustration over hostel life and treatment of teachers in the school. The student complained that he was penalized for speaking Urdu in the class and had to pay Rs 5 as fine.

In his letter, Mubeen wrote to his mother that she should not weep so long on his death. He also requested his parents not to send his sisters to hostel. Mubeen wrote that more details were written in his diary that was in his cupboard.

The deceased was laid to rest in his native village after funeral prayers.

Talking to media, Mubeen’s father said cruel school teachers had killed his son. He said that Mubeen was complaining about the school management for a long time and left this world before his parents could manage to arrange his migration to some other school.

According to MD Pakistan International School Ijaz Akbar, Mubeen never complained about the school management and nobody in the school misbehaved with him.

At least some of the victims died as rescuers struggled to reach a child care center at the Villaggio mall in the capital Doha, according to Qatar s Minister of State for Interior Affairs, Sheik Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani.

Four of the children killed were Spanish citizens living in the small Arab emirate, the Spanish Foreign Ministry said. It did not identify the children, citing Spanish privacy regulations.

Also, a 3-year-old French child was among the victims, the deputy minister for overseas French citizens, Yamina Benguigui, said in a statement.

Young New Zealand triplets were also believed to be among the victims, said New Zealand s Prime Minister John Key, though he could not yet confirm the deaths.

Four teachers and two civil defense officials were among the dead, the Qatari ministry said on its official Twitter page.
Another 17 people were injured, including four children, according to authorities. Most of those hurt were rescuers responding to the blaze.

Witnesses earlier reported thick black smoke pouring from the ritzy mall around midday. Amateur photos and videos posted online showed firefighters rescuing victims by climbing on the roof. The Interior Ministry said the fire was extinguished hours later. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Thick smoke and heat hindered rescue efforts, as did a lack of floor plans and malfunctioning sprinkler systems, the ministry said on Twitter.

Sheik Abdullah said all buildings in the country abide by safety requirements, but a special committee will nonetheless be set up to monitor building safety standards.

The Villaggio opened in 2006 and is one of Qatar s most popular shopping and amusement destinations. Retailers include many well-known Western brands, such as Foot Locker, Pizza Hut, Starbucks and British department store Marks & Spencer, according to the mall s website.

Malls throughout the oil-rich Arab Gulf are popular with families looking for entertainment destinations that provide relief from soaring summer temperatures. The Villaggio includes an ice skating rink, theme park, movie theater and indoor Venice-style gondola rides.

New construction projects such as the Villaggio have transformed the face of once-sleepy Doha in recent years, as the country benefits from a hydrocarbon boom. The OPEC member state is the world s largest exporter of liquefied natural gas.

Qatar won the right to host soccer s 2022 World Cup a year and a half ago.

CNewsworld

Gen. Martin Dempsey, President Obama’s top military adviser, said Monday that Senate lawmakers made the right call by voting to trim aid to Pakistan.

“I think choices should result in consequences. And I think the Senate acted appropriately,” said Dempsey, who is chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, speaking on a US News channel.

The Senate Appropriations Committee voted last week to cut $33 million for Pakistan, of $1 million for each year of a prison sentence given to Shakil Afridi, a doctor who helped the CIA locate al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

It s a small fraction of US aid to the country but nonetheless highlights tensions in the relationship.

In addition to that cut, the Senate Armed Service Committee voted to fence in $250 million in military aid until Pakistan reopens supply routes to Afghanistan to NATO traffic, ceases its support for militants and stops detaining citizens — a veiled reference to the sentencing of Afridi.

Dempsey, in the interview, was not asked about specific spending cuts, but instead was questioned broadly about the decision to "withdraw some funding" from Pakistan.

Asked if the US relationship with Pakistan has ever been worse, Dempsey replied: "not in my experience." But he also cautioned that there was a need for the two nations to repair relations, noting the strategic importance of Pakistan.

“Pakistan is an important country in the region and globally. And so we need to work through the relationship,” het hy gesê, according to a transcript.

The Senate appropriators’ plan would provide $800 million for Pakistan next fiscal year, which is far below what the Obama administration is seeking.

Tropical Storm Beryl cut a soggy path across the US southeast on Monday after swirling ashore in Florida.

The second named storm of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season lashed the East Coast from north Florida to southern parts of North Carolina, and created a risk of flooding inland, even after it was downgraded to a tropical depression late Monday morning.

Strong winds downed trees and power lines in Jacksonville, Florida. It also forced many people to cancel their Memorial day holiday plans.

Beryl s top sustained winds had dropped to 30 miles per hour (48 kph) and its center was 150 myl (241 km) southwest of Savannah, Georgia.

Little change in strength was expected over the next 48 ure. But the storm, targeting parts of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, was forecast to dump as much as 4 to 8 inches (10 aan 20 cm) of rain, in some areas, the hurricane center said.

It said some locations could be hit with as much as 12 inches of rain (30 cm) as the storm moved north-northwest at 5 miles per hour (8 kph).

Beryl peaked near hurricane strength as it made landfall shortly after midnight near Jacksonville Beach, Florida, packing winds of 70 mph (113 kph). That was just shy of the 74 mph (119 kph) threshold that would have made it a Category 1 hurricane on the five-step Saffir-Simpson intensity scale.

Computer forecast models show Beryl moving on an eventual path back out over the Atlantic.

Fortunately, no storm-related deaths or serious injuries had been confirmed by late Monday afternoon.

The Atlantic hurricane season officially starts on June 1.

Rinehart, who has a fortune of Aus$29.17 billion (US$28.48 billion) according to an annual index by Business Review Weekly, increased her holding to more than 13 percent from the 12.8 percent she bought in February.

Her foray into the market — she was already Fairfax s largest shareholder — came just days after she was overlooked for a Fairfax board seat in favour of former Ernst & Young boss James Millar.

In a statement to Fairfax s Sydney Morning Herald, the iron ore billionaire questioned chairman Roger Corbett s abilities, saying he had presided over a huge loss in the market value of the newspaper, radio and digital media firm.

"Answers need to be given as to how the chairman will address this in the interests of all shareholders, rather than merely hoping for improvements in circulation, revenue and share price or perhaps trying to blame… industry conditions," she said.

Rinehart is understood to have requested two board seats at Fairfax after becoming its largest shareholder earlier this year.

Her initial move into the company prompted the government to flag stronger media ownership laws, with Communications Minister Stephen Conroy saying Rinehart, who has been critical of the government, wanted to exert her influence.

Current media ownership laws, designed to promote diversity of opinion and ownership, prevent anyone from acquiring more than 15 percent of Fairfax, whose shares gained 3.20 percent to close at Aus$0.645.

CNewsworld

In an impressive start to the fiscal year that runs through March, Japan s biggest car maker by volume, Toyota Motor Corp., said domestic production soared more than five-fold in April to 275,761 vehicles.

The country s No. 2 car maker, Nissan Motor Co., built 85,734 vehicles at home in the same month, up 94% from a year earlier. Honda Motor Co., the third largest, hiked output more than six-fold to 87,049.

A Nissan Motor Co. Pathfinder passes along the production line at the company s auto factory in Barcelona. Japan s No. 2 car maker

Japan s auto industry suffered one of its worst-ever months in April last year after the devastating earthquake and tsunami on March 11 severely disrupted their parts-supply networks.

Toyota and Honda posted their largest-ever on-year output drops in the month, with plunges of 78% and 81% respectively, while Nissan s output tanked by nearly half.

Although they suffered a setback during the flooding in Thailand in the fall, the Japanese auto giants had mostly brought their supply chains back online by the end of the year. They expect solid output to lift their profits for the current fiscal year, despite the persistent strength of the yen, which diminishes the competitiveness of Japanese products abroad.

"I just hope that it will be a quiet and safe year," said Toyota President Akio Toyota at a news conference earlier this month.

Toyota said its domestic sales nearly tripled on-year to 107,826 in April on solid demand for hybrids and other fuel-efficient vehicles, supported by the government s purchasing incentives for such vehicles. Its exports, meanwhile, increased nearly six-fold to 180,050 as shipments to all regions rose.

Nissan said its domestic sales rose 64% aan 39,413, while its exports more than tripled to 52,660.

Honda said it sold 55,500 vehicles in Japan in April, slightly more than double its year-earlier figure. It also exported 217,977 vehicles, more than triple the year-earlier level.

Japanese car makers are banking on emerging markets and a recovery in the U.S. market to bolster global sales. But it is uncertain to what extent these regions can raise domestic output, with the yen s strength making it difficult to export vehicles profitably.

Yet the car makers expect government incentives in the domestic market to continue helping their output and sales figures at least through the end of the fiscal first half in September.

Prosecutors last week recommended a life sentence for Umar Patek, 45, accused of heading the bombmaking operation in the attacks on two nightclubs on the resort island and Jakarta church bombings on Christmas Eve in 2000.

"The judges must give our client a sentence of less than 15 jaar imprisonment," Asludin Hatjani, one of Patek s lawyers, told AFP outside the court after the trial.

Hatjani earlier told the West Jakarta District Court that Patek s "involvement was small."

"The bombs were almost completely assembled when he arrived in Bali. He only helped mix the remaining explosives," he said.

Patek, a member of the Jemaah Islamiyah terror network, was arrested last year in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad, four months before US commandos killed Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden there.

Indonesian prosecutors stopped short of recommending the maximum death penalty last week, arguing that Patek s remorse should spare him from the firing squad that has already executed three of the Bali bombers.

Since the trial began in February, Patek has admitted to mixing chemicals for the bombs, but denies any major involvement. He has apologised to victims families and and claims he had a change of heart and tried to stop the attacks at the last minute.

Expert witnesses, including an agent with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, have testified that Patek was a known expert bomber.

The court is expected to announce its verdict in June.

Patek was once the most-wanted terror suspect in Indonesia and spent nearly a decade on the run with the US offering a $1 million bounty on his head under its rewards for justice Programme.

Manmohan Singh, who was accorded an impressive guard of honour in this new Myanmar capital, is the first Indian prime minister to visit the resource-rich country in 25 jaar. Sein is a former general who has introduced dramatic reforms in the country.

India looks forward to inking a slew of agreements with Myanmar during the three-day visit.

"We will consider new initiatives and define a roadmap for the further development of our cooperation in the years ahead," the prime minister had said before leaving for Myanmar Sunday.

He said he would focus on trade and investment, development of border areas and improving connectivity among other things in his talks with Myanmar leaders.

The prime minister is accompanied by his wife Gursharan Kaur, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and senior officials.

Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai has said that the foundation for Manmohan Singh s visit was laid when Thein Sein visited India last year.

He said Indian and Myanmar leaders will discuss new initiatives to lay out a roadmap regarding security, connectivity, human resource development and academic exchanges.

Manmohan Singh s visit will be a signal to India Inc to do business with and in Myanmar, a country rich in natural resources and home to 54 million people.

India-Myanmar trade is currently pegged at just $1.2 billion. New Delhi is looking at doubling it by 2015.

The last prime minister to have visited Myanmar was the late Rajiv Gandhi in 1987.
